DAY 1 ~ BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON

Bellingham is a charming city located on the northwest coast of the United States nestled between the Cascade Mountains and the Bellingham Bay. Known for its scenic beauty and vibrant cultural scene, Bellingham offers a blend of urban life and natural wonders. The city’s downtown area is filled with eclectic shops, historic buildings, art galleries, and locally owned restaurants, giving it a welcoming and artistic vibe. The presence of Western Washington University also brings a youthful energy and diverse perspectives to the community.

Outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to Bellingham for its proximity to natural landscapes and recreational activities. The city is a gateway to the San Juan Islands and is just a short drive from Mount Baker, a popular destination for skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. The city also offers miles of waterfront trails, such as the South Bay Trail and Taylor Dock, providing breathtaking views of the bay and access to charming Fairhaven, a historic neighborhood with brick buildings, cozy cafes, and a unique bookstore.

For these reasons we have chosen Bellingham as the launch point for our Alaska Adventure! We will have the opportunity to connect with our fellow travelers this first evening during our meet and greet over drinks and dinner at the hotel. We will review the itinerary and discuss the paticularities of flying to the last frontier.

DAY 2-4 ~ SITKA, ALASKA

Sitka is a small coastal own on Baranof Island in Southeast Alaska, known for its stunning natural landscapes, rich history, and vibrant wildlife. Surrounded by the Tongass National Forest and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Sitka offers breathtaking scenery that combines dense rainforests, snow-capped mountains, and ocean vistas. The town has a unique blend of Russian, Tlingit, and American heritage, reflecting its complex history as the former capital of Russian America before its transfer to the United States in 1867. The charming downtown area is dotted with historic buildings, including St. Michael’s Cathedral, a Russian Orthodox church with distinctive onion-shaped domes, and the Sheldon Jackson Museum, which displays indigenous artifacts.

Nature lovers are drawn to Sitka for its incredible wildlife and outdoor adventures. The waters around Sitka are prime for whale watching. Sea otters, bald eagles, and seals are also common sights along the coast. For a more immersive experience, visitors can explore Sitka National Historical Park, which features towering totem poles, a lush rainforest, and well-maintained walking trails along the Indian River.

We offer you two days to explore this luscious natural landscape whether it be from the water or on land. Channel your inner angler for salmon and halibut or enjoy a nature cruise looking for whales and other animals. If the weather allows we can venture out to fly around the various fjords or glaciers since there are plenty to choose from!

DAY 5-7 ~ TALKEETNA, ALASKA

Talkeetna, Alaska, is a charming, small town nestled at the base of the Alaska Range, about 115 miles north of Anchorage. Known for its quirky personality and warm hospitality, the town is a gateway to Denali National Park and draws both outdoor adventurers and travelers seeking a taste of authentic Alaskan life. Talkeetna is surrounded by pristine wilderness and offers stunning views of Denali, the tallest peak in North America. The town itself has a fascinating history as a former gold-mining and railroad hub, and its historic buildings and rustic Main Street give visitors a glimpse into Alaska’s frontier past.

One of Talkeetna’s biggest attractions is its role as a base for climbers preparing to summit Denali. Talkeetna’s airport is a departure point for scenic flights include glacier landings that let visitors step out onto untouched snowfields. Talkeetna has activities like fishing on the Talkeetna, Chulitna, and Susitna rivers, which teem with salmon and other native fish species. The towns charm is also found in its local arts and culture as a strong arts community, with galleries showcasing local Alaskan artists, and live music events that bring the community together.

Feel free to spend your two free days enchanted by this stunning location with so many wonderful activities. A potential day flying trip is up to Barrow, which is the most northern town in America, above the Arctic Circle and dip your toes in the Arctic Ocean.

DAY 8-9 ~ HOMER, ALASKA

Homer known as the “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World, ” is a picturesque coastal town on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula. This vibrant town is renowned for its unique location on the Homer Spit, a narrow, 4.5-mile strip of land extending into Kachemak Bay. The Homer Spit hosts a bustling harbor, eclectic shops, art galleries, and restaurants with stunning views of the mountains and glaciers across the bay. Homer’s dramatic scenery and seaside charm make it a favorite destination for nature lovers, artists, and adventurers alike.

Fishing is at the heart of Homer’s culture and economy, with Kachemak Bay offering world-class halibut and salmon fishing. Visitors can take charter boats out on the bay for an unforgettable fishing experience or simply enjoy fresh seafood at one of the town’s waterfront restaurants. It is also a launch area for float plane tours into Katmai National Park and Kodiak Island to safely view the iconic brown bears in their natural habitat.

Homer is also known for its thriving arts scene and commitment to environmental conservation. The town is home to numerous galleries and at the Pratt Museum, visitors can learn about the natural history of the area, local marine life, and Alaska Native culture. This will be our last stop as a group and we can spend the evening recounting our amazing experiences of the wilderness and beauty of this spectacular place.

DAY 10 ~ RETURN BACK TO REALITY

As the flying trip comes to an end, it’s hard not to feel a sense of awe and gratitude for the incredible experience. Flying over diverse landscapes—whether rugged mountains, dense forests, or winding rivers—has provided a unique perspective and unforgettable memories. Seeing the world from above not only reveals the beauty of the natural world but also underscores its vastness and intricacy. Each sight from the sky, each landing at a new destination, and each interaction along the way has added to the richness of the journey.
